J. A. Paris invented the thaumatrope
A disk with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one due to the persistence of vision.

How to make it
To make this I made piece of circled card and measured where the middle of it was because I done this I was able to put hole punches at either side of it. When that was done I drew a spider on one side and on the other side I made a cobweb. I put some colour on so it is easier to see, I put some separate string in either side of the holes and tied a knot, this allowed me to hold both sides of the circle and spin it really fast allowing us to see both of the pictures inside one another. By doing this I have created one picture instead of 2 different ones
